Quickplay Announces Next Generation Experience Solution for Pay TV and OTT Premium Video Services at CES 2015, Showcasing Android TV

Comigo, Intellicore and Oregan Networks Announce Integration to the Quickplay Managed Video Service Enabling Social, Immersive and Engaging Experiences

Las Vegas and Toronto (05 Jan 2015)

Quickplay, the global expert in powering premium video to any device, today announced support for Android TV, in a showcase of Quickplay’s Next Generation Experience Solution. The solution provides extensive third-party developer tools as well as an Android TV reference user experience for Live and Video-on-Demand services, supporting Android set-top boxes as well as companion devices. The intuitive developer support tools enable rapid and low cost integration to the Quickplay back-end service for third-party developers and front-end software vendors.

During this period of industry disruption, incumbents and challengers alike are embarking on a transformation to next generation TV (NGTV) in order to offer the most compelling content and a personalized experience in the home or on the go. Pay TV and content providers can’t afford to be locked into single-vendor solutions. They need open, modular approaches that allow them to evolve and leverage their assets, as well as pick and choose the best-in-class technology to keep pace with rapid market changes, while achieving lean and agile operations.

“We built Quickplay to help providers unshackle from legacy systems and quickly scale new growth engines, like premium OTT video and IPTV to any device”, said Wayne Purboo, CEO of Quickplay. “The open approach we are taking with our Next Generation Experience Solution will help providers offer the best premium user experience, powered by Quickplay’s extensive discovery and content management back office, along with a virtual head-end that provides 200+ programmer interfaces, hundreds and thousands of titles and nearly 700 live channels. We are thrilled to be working with leading providers in User Experience (UX) and middleware to bring truly open and best-of-breed solutions to the market.”

The Quickplay developer tools are a direct response to the dynamic nature of the market and to providers’ need to continually innovate to create engaging, social and immersive multiscreen experiences across Set-Top Boxes, HDMI Dongles, Tablets, Game Consoles, PCs, and Smartphones. Having enabled multiscreen premium video experiences to an addressable audience of over 500 million users worldwide, Quickplay recognized this need and has built the tools (SDK, Developer Sandbox, RESTful APIs) and processes (Partner Support Program) to allow any application or front-end solution to be readily integrated with Quickplay’s Managed Video Service. For service providers and media companies this means rapidly enabling advanced NGTV and OTT services over managed, unmanaged, fixed and mobile networks with maximum choice and minimum cost and risk.

“Comigo is focused on delivering a cutting-edge TV viewing experience on any screen, via Android-based Set-Top-Boxes and on companion devices. The Comigo experience is focused on personalization, social capabilities and content-related applications, increasing viewer engagement and opening new revenue opportunities for the Pay TV operators", said Dov Moran, CEO of Comigo. "We're delighted to partner with Quickplay to complement our solution with a carrier-grade content management back-office and a scalable managed virtual head-end.”

“We are extremely pleased to join forces with Quickplay to deliver what we believe is the most sophisticated and innovative Next Generation TV solution on the market today. The solution offers a richer consumption experience on mobile devices and connected TVs, and securely integrates with the top of the class media delivery infrastructure developed and operated by Quickplay,” said Christian Trotobas, CEO of Intellicore.

“Oregan Networks is pleased to collaborate with Quickplay to deliver innovative solutions for multi-network delivery- one that supports an open, modular approach with enhanced service quality, allowing providers to deploy NG Pay TV and OTT services to more platforms, quickly.  Quickplay is a market leading provider of innovative managed video solutions and we are thrilled to work alongside them to deliver the best in cutting-edge Next Generation TV experiences,” said Milya Timergaleyeva, VP Market Strategy of Oregan Networks.
