NewsGator today announced the Video Stream solution package for Social Sites 2010, the first video solution for the enterprise that is truly social.
Organizations can now introduce employee-generated video content to improve innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Available this month, the solution package integrates directly into the Microsoft SharePoint platform along with the NewsGator Social Sites 2010 social computing suite.
The Social Sites 2010 Video Stream enables employees to quickly post videos to internal communities for on-the-fly training, product demos, new concept explanations, customer stories, or any multitude of real-life scenarios. Colleagues immediately see the videos in their activity streams and can "like" them or initiate discussions around the clip. Employees can browse most recent, most viewed, and most liked videos for ad hoc discovery by colleagues.
The solution package eliminates the temptation to post proprietary content to public websites, yet provides all the power of social computing to maximize the business value of the content.
Video Stream delivers bona fide streaming versus progressive download providing an optimal user experience up to 1080p resolution. Video Stream does this by intelligently compressing and streaming the video to the size the network and client can support.
Video Stream automatically handles all the popular media formats, including Windows Media (WMV, WMA), AVI, QuickTime (MOV), DirectShow Filters, MPEG-2, AVCHD, and Dolby Digital. It also supports Silverlight 4.0 and the Smooth Streaming output codec.
Video Stream is an optional solution package for NewsGator Social Sites 2010 and is fully integrated with Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
