New Streambox Avenir Mini 4TM Bonded Cellular Mobile Encoder for Live HD/360 Newsgathering and Streaming

The Streambox Avenir Mini 4 is an easy to use camera-mounted bonded cellular video encoder

Seattle, WA(27 Jun 2017)

Streambox Inc. announced today the Avenir Mini 4, a fourth-generation camera-mounted bonded cellular video encoder, designed for live broadcast and streaming to social media. The bonded cellular mobile video encoder improves on the Avenir Mini 3 with new power efficient mobile encoding, new video hardware, new software, upgraded ACT-L3 AP 2017 codec, easier to use/manage mobile UI, and dual LCD interface. With proprietary LDMP networking for reliable video transport, five built-in embedded modems, and the capacity for up to 12 modems with Streambox Signal Extender the Avenir Mini 4 delivers a reliable video stream even in the most remote locations. High quality bonded network HD streaming, lower cost of ownership, and ease of use have established the Avenir Mini line as the premiere broadcast mobile encoder.

High Quality Bonded Network HD Streaming

With the proprietary ACT-L3 AP 2017 codec the Avenir Mini 4 delivers full HD video at a significantly lower bitrate than H.264. The ACT-L3 AP 2017 codec comes fully integrated with LDMP transport protocol for reliable multi-network bonding that delivers superior adaptive bitrate streaming over lower bandwidth cellular and WiFi networks. LDMP bonds all available networks, combining each individual network’s bandwidth into the whole. If one of these network capacities fluctuates then LDMP will dynamically shift the video stream away from that network, shifting back to the fluctuating network when it become available again. That way, an HD video stream is always delivered. When deployed with Streambox Cloud Services or Enterprise Server as a stream management solution the Mini 4 gives broadcasters and media producers the ability to deliver live HD video from many sources to a global audience over any combination of IP networks. Producers from all over the globe can send video to Streambox Video Cloud where it is transcoded for many different destinations such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube with included support for 360 cloud stitching for social media platforms.

Cost of Ownership

The Mini 4, when paired with Streambox Cloud services, offers a low-cost way to deliver high quality HD video for live broadcast and streaming. The superior video compression and transport consumes up to 30% less data for HD video (compared to H.264/AVC). Carriers worldwide are lowering the cost of cellular data plans so it is a great time to use bonded cellular to send live HD video. The reduced data consumption allows companies to send broadcast quality HD or 360 video of live streaming news and events to Facebook, Twitter/Periscope, YouTube, or websites at prices that are economically sustainable. Competing systems offer leases on hardware, but require a marked-up data plan, masking the true cost to operate which becomes larger than Streambox over time. When paired with the optional Streambox Cloud, Mini 4 becomes part of a robust encoding and delivery network (including free encoding and media player software) with low monthly operating expenses. International, domestic, and local news teams can rely on Mini 4 as a viable long term solution for newsgathering and streaming.

Ease of Use

Hardware updates like dual LCD screens and easy-to-read LED status lights make the Mini 4 user friendly in the field and in the office. The software and user interface have been redesigned with focus on making the frequently used settings the most accessible and a mobile app gives the user flexible options for simplified operation. Seamless integration with Streambox Cloud makes going live on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube quick, simple, and efficient. Avenir Mini 4 is as usable as it is powerful.

About Streambox

Founded in 1999, Streambox is an industry leading pioneer developing unique IP based video streaming solutions and cloud based streaming services. Streambox delivers mobile video everywhere, allowing companies and organizations to broadcast, share, and stream video from anywhere with unlimited scalability at lower costs. The Streambox platform of professional live and file-based 360/HD/SD software and hardware for video transport, management, and play out streamlines the workflow for any broadcasting and streaming need. Streambox technology is based on the ACT-L3™ proprietary video compression which allows faster encoding with low-latency and adaptive bitrate streaming over public/private networks.

Streambox Technology

Advanced Streaming Codec

All Streambox products are powered by the proprietary codec, Advanced Compression Technology - Level 3 (ACT-L3) Advanced Program 2017. Streambox ACT-L3 AP 2017 compression allows for fast encoding with low latency and is optimized for video transmission over any IP connection. ACT-L3 is capable of compressing high motion, complex video at low data rates with the advanced motion search feature.

Streambox LDMP Technology

All Streambox products come equipped with Streambox exclusive Low Delay Multi-Path technology (LDMP). Streambox LDMP protocol allows low latency adaptive bitrate streaming on public and private networks. Streambox encoders will automatically select the best possible bandwidth, latency, and resolution over multiple IP networks, thus allowing Streambox products to gracefully handle network bandwidth fluctuations and dropouts, which are often seen over public or shared network environments.
