New Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 Enterprise Video Appliance Delivers Powerful Microsoft Outlook and Polycom Integration

Any user can now schedule videoconference streaming through Microsoft Outlook; Integrations with encoders and CDNs give organizations greater flexibility and choice

San Bruno, Calif.(10 May 2010)

Qumu, Inc., a proven innovator in streaming media solutions for the enterprise, announced the Qumu Video Control Center 5.3, the latest version of the company's industry-leading comprehensive enterprise video management solution.

The new Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 makes scheduling videoconference recording and streaming simple through Microsoft Outlook and includes support for the new Polycom® RSS 4000 recording and streaming server.  Also included is increased support for leading video encoders from Digital Rapids and Inlet Technologies, as well as support for AT&T's complete line of internet and private Content Delivery Networks.

The Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 streamlines content creation process and manages all steps of the enterprise video lifecycle.  The Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 provides central control for the production and delivery of scalable live broadcast events and video on demand (VOD), and control for all video applications, content and resources involved in the production lifecycle and delivery of enterprise video. This includes a Qumu Social Video Portal that can operate as a standalone portal or in conjunction with SharePoint or another enterprise portal. These features will enable a wider audience of users to utilize live broadcast capabilities within an organization.

The Qumu Video Control Center makes the process of creating, managing and distributing video within the enterprise easy, secure and reliable via a user-friendly interface, access control parameters and reporting capabilities.

Qumu's new Video Control Center 5.3 facilitates more effective company-wide training, collaboration and communication, with ease of creation of rich media videos.  These videos can be used for projects such as training, webcasts, product introductions, lecture capture, distance learning, live and on-demand meetings, videoconference recording and streaming, and video blogs.  The Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 includes industry-leading enhancements:

New Microsoft Outlook integration - Organizations can schedule, stream and record videoconference events directly from a Microsoft Outlook calendar invitation.  The Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 leverages Polycom's new Microsoft Outlook plug-in as the interface to set up live streaming and recording of Polycom videoconferences.  Users can simply select the record option when scheduling a videoconference room through a meeting invitation.  The Video Control Center then generates a unique URL for either live broadcast or for on-demand access and manages the publishing process.  To view the recording later, users simply reopen the original meeting invitation and click the link on the past event to be directed to the portal to watch the videoconference.  By using Outlook, organizations will find greater usage of their video communication assets given the simple and easy process of incorporating recording and streaming into videoconferences.

New Integration With The Polycom RSS 4000 - Enterprises can stream and record videoconferences using the Polycom RSS 4000.  Users can schedule live broadcasts of videoconferences or have them discovered automatically by the Video Control Center.  The Video Control Center also leverages program templates for automatic mapping of recorded videoconferences by custom metadata including conference owner, group, description, and keywords.  Program templates can also be used for automated distribution, transcoding, and publishing for recorded videoconferences.  The seamless integration with the Polycom RSS 4000 allows users to easily find and locate videoconferencing content within the Video Control Center and for IT administrators to distribute this content in a scalable fashion. Virtual Recording Rooms in the RSS 4000 are also discovered and recorded sessions are published through the Video Control Center 5.3.

Expanded Integration With Encoders and Content Delivery Networks - The Qumu Video Control Center 5.3 includes support for an ever-widening array of leading encoder manufacturers, with support for: Digital Rapids StreamZ and Inlet Spinnaker encoders.  New content delivery options include live and on-demand support for AT&T's Intelligent Content Distribution Services and on-demand support for AT&T's Private Content Distribution Service.

Advanced Broadcast Enhancements - With the new "broadcast now" feature, broadcasters can immediately start a broadcast with the push of a single button.  They can also broadcast to multiple delivery schedules through simple selection of scheduled broadcast options.  Video Control Center 5.3 broadcasters can now easily allocate Q&A questions that are posted during a live broadcast by using new built-in filters that can allocate questions to appropriate responders.  For example, an administrator could allocate technical questions, pricing questions and manufacturing questions to different people for answers.

"Videoconference usage is increasing in organizations of all sizes and across industries, and providing seamless recording and streaming through Microsoft Outlook enables anyone to schedule, record and broadcast a videoconference," said Derrick Fitzgerald, senior product marketing manager, Polycom, Inc.  "By integrating more tightly with Microsoft Outlook, organizations can increase the usage and value of their video communication assets and, as a result, increase viewer engagement, training and education."

"Qumu has led the market delivery of secure, scalable enterprise video products and appliances" said Ray Hood, CEO of Qumu, Inc.  "Qumu's large installed base of Fortune 500 customers has told us they want to expand their use and delivery of streaming video throughout their organizations, in order to continue to reduce costs, engage audiences and increase revenues."
