NYT Beta, The Times’s interdisciplinary team behind NYT Now and Cooking, announced today that it will introduce a new site focused on television and film and expand the Well franchise later this year. Philips is the official healthtech sponsor for Well.

Edited by television editor Gilbert Cruz, the dedicated film and television site, called Watching, will introduce a newsletter in the coming weeks in advance of the site’s launch, written by Margaret Lyons. The Watching newsletter will alert subscribers to the best new streaming weekly and nightly content. The site will include:

  • essential information on where and how to watch

Well, The Times’s health and wellness section edited by Tara Parker-Pope, will debut new content and features to guide readers to a healthier life by providing daily motivation, actionable advice and tools. New features rolling out later this year, include:

  • a series of guides that walk readers through how to adopt new wellness habits

  • a newsletter that features exclusive content, as well as stories from our archive, to engage readers throughout their wellness journeys

“Beta aims to make The New York Times a daily habit for current and potential readers by providing trustworthy guidance they can’t get elsewhere,” said Ben French, vice president of NYT Beta, The New York Times. “The Times already helps millions of people plan their meals with Cooking and we believe Well and Watching will become equally indispensable to readers.”

As The Times’s unique unit that brings together product, technology, design, editorial and advertising, NYT Beta has seen great success since its inception. The team has helped develop and launch NYT NowCooking and The New York Times en Español and introduced substantial enhancements to the Crossword and Real Estate apps.
