Isilon Collaborates with Alcatel-Lucent to Lay Foundation for Multimedia Delivery with Access on any Device
Isilon Scale-out NAS Selected as Storage Infrastructure for Alcatel-Lucent’s Multi-Screen Foundation, Providing Integrated Infrastructure Platform for Extending the Reach and Monetizing Multimedia Services Across Multiple Screens

Isilon Systems (Nasdaq: ISLN) today announced that Alcatel-Lucent has selected Isilon IQ to provide the storage infrastructure for its Multi-screen Foundation, which combines Isilon scale-out NAS with video delivery technology from Harmonic to create an open foundation for extending the reach and monetizing multimedia services across multiple screens. The Multi-screen Foundation provides the infrastructure platform for Alcatel-Lucent's new set of solutions unifying the delivery of video, TV and multimedia content to any connected device. Using Isilon IQ, the Multi-screen Foundation consolidates all media onto a single, high performance, highly scalable, shared pool of storage, enabling service providers to make their services available on any device, anytime, anywhere, accelerating time-to-market and reducing operational costs.

Isilon IQ, featuring its OneFS® operating system software, creates a single file system scalable to 10.4 Petabytes (PB) of capacity, 45 Gigabytes per second of aggregate throughput and 1.7 million IOPS of performance, to unify massive amounts of file-based data, such as video, audio and images, simplifying storage management and accelerating time-to-market.
