Elber enables V-Nova to launch PERSEUS powered P.Link HD at NAB Show to maximize Video Contribution Efficiency and Flexibility

London(14 Apr 2016)

V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, and Elber s.r.l., the video transport experts, today announced that NAB Show 2016 will see the launch of their joint P.Link HD solution, the industry’s most efficient solution for contribution and remote production.

The product leverages the powerful performance of V-Nova PERSEUS, demonstrated during the coverage of El Clasico in 4K/UHD and selected by Eutelsat for 4K/UHD contribution of Euro 2016 matches, into a cost-effective HD platform for widespread adoption throughout the broadcast industry. This new solution, which will be demonstrated live on the Elber booth (SU 6105), combines the step-change in video compression performance of V-Nova PERSEUS technology with the multi-format Elber Cleber broadcast contribution platform. The solution makes remote production and multi-camera feeds economically viable, providing a 30~50% reduction in bandwidth for the backhaul of low-latency visually lossless HD video in a flexible 1RU or 3RU form factor with switchable encoding/decoding modules.

“The new high-density P.Link HD solution combines our Cleber platform with V-Nova PERSEUS video compression to increase contribution video quality while simultaneously reducing bandwidth requirements, an exciting win-win for all transporters of HD video,” said Edoardo Bernardi, General Director of Elber.

Guido Meardi, V-Nova CEO and Co-Founder, added: “The NAB launch of our new P.Link HD solution confirms that all operators transporting HD video are now able to take advantage of the efficiency and cost benefits of the award-winning V-Nova PERSEUS technology. P.Link HD combines the lowest bandwidth requirements in the market with a highly reliable, power- and space-efficient platform, effectively allowing both OPEX and CAPEX savings by giving broadcasters the possibility to add video feeds and increase remote production without costly network upgrades."

V-Nova PERSEUS™ is a video processing technology that addresses today’s video delivery challenges. PERSEUS software closes the capacity gap for visually lossless contribution of premium feeds over existing infrastructure. It redraws the traditional quality-bitrate curve, enabling operators to contribute video simultaneously at both higher quality and a lower bitrate.

Cleber is a powerful, flexible and modular hardware and software platform for broadcasting and contribution networks. The Elber modular design enables Cleber to support video transport over ASI, IP, DVB-S/S2 and DVB-T and HD/SD video encoders.

About V-Nova

V-Nova is a London-headquartered software company providing advanced signal compression technology and software solutions to address the dramatic growth in global network traffic. V-Nova is at the heart of digitalisation, serving multiple industry segments, including TV & Media where it provides solutions spanning the entire media delivery chain, from UHD/4K contribution to distribution, to connected devices and set-top-boxes.

V-Nova's award-winning PERSEUS technology closes the gap between evolving capacity needs and limitations associated with legacy compression technologies to process data and video in new ways. This means that data can be transported, stored and secured, faster and more cost-effectively, without the need for network upgrades. V-Nova is driving a new era in TV & Media with ground-breaking software solutions that shift the bitrate-quality curve to enable UHD at HD bitrates, HD at SD bitrates, and SD video at sub-audio bitrates.

V-Nova is empowering a growing number of customers and partners to differentiate their products, increase market reach, and provide new services, all within currently available bandwidth and infrastructure.

About Elber

From the very beginning in 1978 Elber has been producing microwave links for the broadcast market. The company has changed several times its location in the Italian Riviera in the north of Italy near Genoa, in order to adapt its structure to the needs of an always expanding market. Actually today, thanks to the constant presence at all major international trade shows regarding the broadcast industry, Elber can count on a widespread diffusion of its products in every part of the world.

The highly specialised staff, the attention paid to each and every single phase of the production from the design to the realization of the product and the use of high quality components form the benchmark of Elber's philosophy. The increasing expansion of the company has never kept Elber from maintaining a personal contact with its clients, from the smaller local broadcasters to the main television and radio networks. This philosophy, together with the high reliability of the equipment, allows Elber to offer a five-year guarantee on its products.

Important and continuous investments in R&D reflect the ambition to keep the leading position between its competitors as well on national as on international level, diversifying the original core business of microwave links manufacturer developing high quality equipment for satellite communications and video contribution.
