Digital Media Rights Launches Yuyu, "TV That Isn't Basic"

Digital Media Rights expands from leading digital content aggregator and distributor to OTT streaming media company

NEW YORK(23 Aug 2016)

Digital Media Rights (DMR) announced today the launch of Yuyu, an OTT video streaming service featuring premium movies and television programs. Yuyu showcases an eclectic offering of top titles, and follows on the heels of DMR’s recent launch of popular OTT channels Midnight Pulp and Asian Crush.

“There is a great divide between popular streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube,” said Michael Hong, CEO and Co-Founder, Digital Media Rights. “Yuyu is in many ways our most ambitious channel. Most titles are highly-rated on IMDB, featuring premium movies, TV shows and documentaries from here and abroad, many of which are not available anywhere else. We also have a unique vision of how the programs will be presented and curated.”

Yuyu will launch with over 350 titles and feature more than a dozen permanent categories, including “Binge Worthy” television, “Stranger Than Fiction” documentaries, and “Tour-de-Force Performance.” “Yuyu is not like a typical cable channel. We can throw out conventions to how our channel is programmed and marketed and present it in a way that is new and fresh and speaks directly to our audience,” said Will Chao, Yuyu General Manager and Director of Programming, DMR.
Some key titles include “Misfits,” a story about LGBT teens in the heart of the Bible Belt, the home renovation series “The Big Flip,” and the true crime documentary “Where is Bobby Fisher?”

YuYu will be available to consumers as a hybrid model. Consumers can choose to watch the channel for free or with a subscription. Subscription pricing starts at $4.99 a month for the channel. Yuyu can be found on Roku, web, and mobile, and will soon arrive on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and Sony TV. The company also has plans to rollout additional OTT channels this year.
