Columbus International Inc. Selects SeaWell Networks to Deliver Hybrid IP Video Services for its Flow Multiscreen Rollout

Spectrum Simplifies IP Video Delivery Complexities, Reduces Costs, and Enables Enhanced Adaptive Video Management

Toronto(22 Jan 2013)

Columbus International Inc., which operates the largest cable franchise in the Caribbean under the brand name "Flow" has selected SeaWell Networks Inc., the leader in monetizing multiscreen TV, for its latest IPTV developments.  SeaWell Networks' Spectrum solution will be integrated into Flow - Columbus' retail operation, to help deliver its hybrid IP Video Services, which will include TV Everywhere services and IP Video on Demand to more than 450,000 customers across any IP connected device.

With its extensive roll-out of live linear channels, network-based digital video recording and video on demand, Columbus chose SeaWell Networks' platform-based Spectrum Multiscreen 2.0 session delivery controller to simplify its IP video delivery complexities, reduce costs, and enable enhanced adaptive video management.

"Spectrum's comprehensive carrier-grade platform includes network-side per session management, dynamic repackaging and DRM translation, helping us solve the challenge of delivering IP-video over unmanaged networks, and eliminating the need to multi-encrypt every video file prior to delivery - a huge time and cost savings," said Darren Richer, chief technology officer, Columbus.  "These attributes along with Spectrum's scalability are critical to Columbus as we continue to extend the reach and quality of our services."

"We are delighted that Columbus selected SeaWell as its vendor of choice to support delivery of its innovative linear multiscreen TV Everywhere experience," said Brian Collie, CEO SeaWell Networks.  "Spectrum's intelligent session delivery platform provides subscribers with a quality experience, improves customer service, minimizes downtime, and reduces transcoding, storage and delivery costs making it a win-win for Columbus and its subscribers."

Columbus will also use Spectrum for user data and analytics, quality control, and to re-encrypt content to play on any device.
