Christian Radio Broadcaster Goes Mobile with Liquid Compass iPhone App

Denver, C0(07 Dec 2010)

Liquid Compass, a premier provider of streaming services to the radio industry, announced that Christian Radio Broadcaster WDAC - HD1 94.5 FM, WDAC - HD2 94.5 FM, and sister station WBYN 107.5 FM have signed on to the Liquid Compass Mobile Division and are now downloading station apps to their mobile listeners’ iPhones.

The stations began offering the new service within the past 45 days and have downloaded more than 325 mobile apps thus far.

“When people find a format they really like, they want to take that format with them,” said Doug Myer, the Christian broadcaster’s General Manager and COO. “The new Liquid Compass mobile app for radio allows us to continue to expand the reach of our specialized content to our listeners—wherever they are.”

From its beginnings as an FM station in 1959, to streaming in 1999, HD radio in 2006, and now with mobile apps, the Christian broadcaster has long been an early adopter of cutting-edge technology. “We decided several years ago to move away from being a ‘traditional radio station’ and instead become a provider of content on any device,” Myer said.

The new mobile app provides features and functionality that allows the broadcaster’s stations to engage their listeners in more meaningful and personal ways than simply offering station information. “Our format is unique, half music and half teaching/talk, so it’s important for us to be able to converse with our listeners, and it’s why we particularly like the social networking – especially Twitter – aspect the Liquid Compass mobile app provides,” Myer continued.

“We’re pleased that in utilizing both our desktop and mobile applications, WDAC and its sister stations are able to provide a better listening experience for their audience,” said Zackary Lewis, Liquid Compass CEO. “Our focus continues be on developing technologies that enable our broadcasters to reach their listeners wherever they want to go, keep those listeners tuned in longer and more often and, in turn, provide more value back to the broadcasters themselves.”
