Senior Software Engineer - Ingest
Plano, Texas

Job Description:

As a Software Engineer specialised in video Ingestion and transcoding , you would join a team dedicated to creating a highly scalable and performant video ingestion and transcoding capabilities into our core video platform. You would be working on new features and functionality in every layer of our product, but with a clear emphasis on the backend components.

Who we're looking for

Most importantly, you are an outstanding software developer. We code mostly in Java, Ruby and Go and use nosql and sql databases, frameworks and tools such as Cassandra, Sinatra, Aws, Git, Ansible, Maven and Jenkins. Solid experience of one or more of these is no doubt a bonus however the kind of person we are looking for quickly and easily picks up new languages and frameworks.

Additionally, for this role we are looking specifically for software engineers that have experience of building highly performant, distributed and scalable applications using cloud infrastructures. Domain knowledge of  full stack video delivery over the web is a strong plus.

Furthermore we insist that you have a passion for what you do and a hunger for learning new things. We constantly evaluate and try to better ourselves. We expect you to do the same and - just as important - help others improve as well.

  • You will design, develop, deploy and operate backend services in Java, Ruby that are scalable, durable and performant.

  • You will collaborate closely with other engineers in an autonomous, cross- functional team.

  • You will share operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including taking part in an on-call rotation.

  • You will help other team members to grow as engineers through code review, pairing, and mentoring.

  • You will work in close collaboration with Product Owners, QA and other teams in an agile environment to influence the overall product and platform.

About you

  • You are a professional Java, Ruby developer with 7+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in a Senior developer role with distributed/high volume systems.

  • You care about the craft and cherish the opportunity to work with smart, supportive and highly motivated colleagues.

  • You are passionate about what you do and care deeply about the things you build.

  • You handle complexity by keeping things simple and elegant.

  • You like to learn new things, mentor and share knowledge with team members.

  • You have a deep understanding of system design, data structures and algorithms.
