Manager of Outreach Broadcast Engineering
Laramie WY

Job Description:

Essential Duties

Administer and coordinate engineering resources for Outreach School's video and audio production and conferencing facilities.  This includes IP networking for statewide video/audio conferencing facilities, bridging resources for audio and video conferencing, VoIP telephone system, remote/studio television production facilities, TV post production facilities including high definition, classroom recording/conferencing  facilities for Outreach, microwave transmission to Wyo Public Television, and other systems.

Research, develop, design, and plan engineering resources and facilities for new technology delivery systems.  This includes Outreach systems as well as consulting other groups on and off campus.

Supervise senior technicians.  Assign tasks and monitor quality of work and performance.

Assign/perform engineering repair and maintenance tasks for Outreach facilities, equipment, and systems.  Troubleshoot advanced IP networks.  Diagnose and repair video production/postproduction HD/SD facilities.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with key technology groups on campus and statewide for the benefit of the Outreach School and the University of Wyoming.  Groups such as UW IT, WEN, WVCS, VCE, DLC, State of Wyoming IT, Wyoming Public Television, and Community College IT groups.

Plan and prepare budgets, bids, RFP's, purchase requisitions,and inventories.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of work related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Driver's License with a motor vehicle record that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy Found at: http://www.uwyo.edu/auxserv/fleet/Official-Vehicle-Policy/OVP.pdf

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Electrical License/low volt. If not licensed in Wyoming, must obtain within one year.

Knowledge of audio and video principles and procedures.

Experience in effective supervisory methods and practices.

Knowledge of broadcast systems circuitry, design, and/or installation.

Knowledge and experience in advanced troubleshooting and repair.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Skill and abilities to make independent decisions.

Ability to work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.

Ability to install, maintain, and configure software, hardware and peripherals.

 

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication/Broadcasting Technology is desirable. 

Experience with these systems/equipment desirable: Tandberg, Polycom, video conferencing endpoints; Radvision, Cisco/Codian VC bridges, gatekeepers/scheduling systems; Avid Unity, Adrenaline; Telestream/FlipFactory; Rimage DVD duplication; Broadcast quality Sony SD multicam studio and remote facilities, SD/HD, JVC; Avaya audio bridge; High level of troubleshooting skills with H.323 video conferencing standard;
