Looking to tomorrow's video processing and streaming needs, Portland, Oregon-based Elemental Technologies has announced the 2.0 version of its video processing software. Key additions include wider codec support and forward-looking standards support.

Already in testing with over 100 customers, Elemental software 2.0 promises twice the performance and density of the previous offering, all in a single RU footprint. Codec support includes MPEG-2, H.264, VC-1 and HEVC (H.265). The ability to run multiple codecs on one platform will help customers migrate to new compression technologies, Elemental said in a statement.

Elemental includes support for MPEG-DASH, Ultraviolet, and 4K Ultra HD to prepare for tomorrow's format needs. Other additions include support for ESAM dynamic ad insertion and Nielsen ID3 tagging, audio encoding support across Elemental's product line (including DTS Express, Dolby Digital, Dolby E, and Dolby Digital Plus), CALM Act audio loudness management, and improved captioning features to meet upcoming federal requirements.

Besides the 2.0 software release, Elemental also announced NVIDIA Tesla GPU accelerator and Intel Sandy Bridge-based versions of Elemental Live and Elemental Server. Customers can expect to see twice the performance over the previous generation of products, Elemental said. This release is also designed to future-proof the Elemental line,

Elemental plans to migrate all of its customers to the 2.0 software in the coming months.
