Elemental Launches Elemental Stream at The Cable Show

The Cable Show is taking place from today through Wednesday in Boston, Massachusetts, and IP delivery is clearly a larger part of the conference than ever before. Portland, Oregon-based Elemental Technologies took the occasion to launch a new product, Elemental Stream, which can segment, package, and secure live or on-demand video for multiscreen delivery.

Elemental says the product was designed as an extension of its video processing technology. It allows content owners to reduce their bandwidth requirements for multi-stream video delivery, as it works at the edge of a network and doesn't require re-encoding. Stream lets owners produce a single encoded video format, then apply DRM and adaptive bitrate formats at the time of distribution.

Elemental Stream offers closed captioning support, as well as subtitle conversion. International broadcasters can associate a single video with multiple audio tracks.

"With Elemental Stream, we are responding to the industry's need for a video processing system that lowers costs for IP video delivery by customizing content separately from the core encoding process," says Keith Wymbs, vice president of marketing for Elemental. "With this product our customers can experience the advantages of close integration with Elemental Live and Server as well as our unified management system Elemental Conductor."
