WWW.com Gets Investment from UK-based Carlton

Internet radio broadcaster WWW.com (http://www.www.com) said that UK-based Carlton Communications has invested in the company and formed a European division.

Carlton is investing US$11.6 million in WWW.com and will also invest 51% into WWW.com EUROPE.

Carlton's joint venture with WWW.com marks its first step in broadcasting over the Internet.

WWW.com creates radio stations for its customers. It has over 230 channels broadcasting nearly 400,000 tracks - ranging from reggae and rock 'n roll to country and classical.

"In less than a year we have built WWW.com into the world's largest Music ASP and second most popular radio site in the world," said Scott Purcell, president and founder of WWW.com. "With Carlton's access to mass audiences, knowledge of the UK entertainment market, and understanding of the rapidly developing Internet market, they are the right partner to expand WWW.com overseas and allow us to continue building a true global brand."
