Umbro Streams Saturday Night Soccer

Sporting goods manufacturer Umbro (www.umbro.com), rights holders to the United Soccer Leagues (USL), announced that 20 of this season's games will be webcast at www.USLsoccer.com. The season begins May 19 with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds versus the Hershey Wildcats. In addition to the games, the site will feature interviews with players and coaching staff, pre- and post-match analysis, and chat-room functions.

Neil Meadows, president of USLsoccer, said that webcasting creates commercial partnership opportunities for the USL. "We are talking to a number of organizations who want to be part of Saturday Night Soccer via sponsorship or in-stream advertising, which will allow us to keep this service free to our users," Meadows said.

The USL, which was founded in 1986, consists of six soccer leagues, including professional, development, youth and women's divisions, covering 36 States and 4 Canadian provinces. Umbro holds a majority share in the USL.
