Play Announces New Version of Snappy Video Snapshot

Play Incorporated (http://www.play.com) announced a new version of its Snappy Video Snapshot, which captures still images from video.

Snappy 4.0 adds several new features like tools for organizing images and creating TV-style slide-shows which can be shared over the Internet.

The Snappy, which was one of the best-selling PC video add-ons of all time, connects to a parallel port and allows users to easily "Snap" pictures from any video source (camcorder, TV, VCR, DVD).

"Snappy has proved to be the best way to capture the highest-quality still images from video," says Ken Turcotte, Play's vice president of software development. "For years it's provided people a great way to save images on their PCs for adding to their Web sites or on-line photo albums, emailing to friends and relatives, or using for presentations and other business projects."

Snappy 4.0's new features include the Snap Pad, a film-strip window which archives each image a user snaps and allows users to reprocess (crop, re-size, adjust the color, etc.) the image later. It also includes Play's Performer, a story-telling tool that lets users put pictures together into shows complete with graphics, video effects, music, and narration.

Snappy 4.0 is available for $169.95.
