POPcast Gains Another Licensee, Click2asia.com

POPcast (http://www.popcast.com), which enables individuals to upload, stream and share streaming video, announced that Asian portal Click2Asia ( http://www.click2asia.com) signed on as licensee.

Since POPcast is an application service provider (ASP) it licenses out its automated video sharing technology to other companies. Previously, POPcast customers have included Vidnet and Zland.com.

"In the process of building the premier site for the global Asianentertainment community, we are working hard to incorporate the latesttechnologies available for our members," said Joseph Cheon, CEO ofClick2Asia. "Through this arrangement with POPcast, we are pleased tobe the first Asian-oriented Web destination to offer our members thesimplest and most reliable experience for sharing their personal videoand media related content."

"This partnership proves that, globally, the demand for audio and videosharing services has arrived," said William Mutual, POPcast's Presidentand Chairman.

Under the one-year agreement, Click2Asia's members will beable to upload up to 10MB of audio or video content for free,encoded at rates as high as 220 kilobytes-per-second. Part of the deal means that playback of the content will include a "Powered by POPcast" graphic in the playback window.

The new service is scheduled to become available sometime this month, say the companies.
