New Encoding Company Compressvideo.com Launches

Add a new entry into the encoding business. Startup CompressVideo.com (http://www.compressvideo.com) unveiled plans to enter the video compression and encoding field.

It aims to deliver services for CD-ROM, DVD and the Internet customers.

The company, based in San Francisco, California, has built its businesss around tools from Media 100 and Terran Interactive (its wholly-owned subsidiary).

Already the company says it has signed on customers like Apple Computer, Adobe.com, Looksmart.com and the Melissa Ethridge Web site.

"More and more, our customers are realizing the power of delivering streaming video images from their Web sites, but they don't have the time or the resources internally to quickly encode the gigabytes of data necessary to produce a streaming video image for the Internet," said Logan Kelsey, founder and technical director for Compressvideo.com. "We've built a service organization around providing that completely unique and highly valuable capability to our Web-savvy customers."

CompressVideo joins companies like LoudEye (previously encoding.com), STV and Sonic Foundry's encoding shops that seem to be exploding all over.
