Announced this week, MTV.co.uk will use Streamwave (www.streamwave.co.uk)streaming video technology to deliver a weekly video newsletter to its U.K. subscriber base. The technology comes from Energis, a telecommunications and Internet company, and Emblaze Systems, which was formerly GEO Interactive Media Group. The companies claim the service will allow recipients to watch the latest video clips without downloading plug-ins or media players.

Streamwave uses either a Java Applet or ActiveX technology to presentaudio and video through a standard Web browser. A joint development between Emblaze Systems and Energis, Streamwave is co-marketed throughout Europe by Energis Squared, the Internet and e-business arm of Energis, and Emblaze Systems. According to an earlier agreement,Energis and Emblaze Systems will receive 50 percent of revenuesfrom all joint deals.

Chris Sice, managing director of MTV.co.uk commented: "The new videonewsletter will enable music lovers to keep abreast of all the major music announcements as they happen. It will also enable MTV, through converging its media, to create seamless integration between our TV channel and Web site."
