MP3.com Launches my.MP3.com

MP3.com (http://www.mp3.com) announced the beta launch of its My.MP3.com ( http://my.mp3.com).

The free services, Instant Listening Service and Beam-it, allow consumers to store, customize and listen to their CDs from anywhere using web-enabled devices.

Instant Listening Service allows consumers to purchase CDs from MP3.com partner e-tailers and listen to these CDs instantly using their My.MP3.com account. The company hopes to CD sales and site traffic for partner merchants. MP3.com is launching the new service initially with music e-tailers, including Junglejeff.com, Duffelbag.com and Cheap-CDs.com.

"This secure technology infrastructure bridges the interests of artists, labels and consumers," commented Michael Robertson, chairman and chief executive officer of MP3.com. "What is truly exciting is that once you own a CD, it can be listened to anywhere in the world through MP3.com. Not only will music fans be able to listen to their own CD collection on a standard PC, but they will also be able to listen to them through the wide assortment of new Internet appliances that are being developed for the market."

The Beam-it service allows users to put their music on their My.MP3.com account using MP3.com's new software. It essentially lets users save and access their CDs through "listen-only" streaming.

"Once the CD has been verified and stored in the My.MP3.com account, owners can create a virtual jukebox, make customized playlists and use MP3.com to listen to their entire CD library seamlessly from anywhere around the globe," said Robertson.
