GMV Network’s EdgeServer Completing Beta Program

GMV Network announced the completion of its initial beta testing for EdgeServer 1.0, a streaming media server that can handle Real 7, Windows Media and QuickTime content.

Essentially EdgeServer lets end-users use any media player they have available because it broadcasts one single standards-based stream that is compatible with most major media players.

One beta EdgeServer customer is New Radio Star, which plans to adopt the full version of the server. According to New Radio Star owner, Bob Hamilton, "We think the world of GMV. I have already received three upgrades from the company. We will use EdgeServer exclusively."

GMV Network's EdgeServer is installed at the "edge" of the network, or the closest access point of the end-user.

According to GMV's CEO, Michael Casey, "The greatest result of the beta-testing so far is seeing the affirmation of our vision with our products working outside of the lab. And, as every beta test should, this one has supplied us with great feedback from our customers which has helped to hone the product."

GMV's release is scheduled for July 1, 2000.
