Entera Introduces TeraCAST QuickTime Streaming Media Server

Entera Inc. (http://www.entera.com), a developer of Internet content delivery solutions, unveiled its TeraCAST streaming server. In both a Plus and Lite version.

TeraCAST Plus is a standards-based, multi-platform streaming server software with unlimited streaming capabilities. With unlimited simultaneous streams, developers are only limited by the CPU and bandwidth of the network.

"We've spoken with a great deal of developers and providers and nearly allof them expressed a need for unlimited streaming," said Dave Immethun, EnteraProduct Manager. "We, at Entera, believe that the user should control theavailability of streams, not the software vendor."

TeraCAST content can be played back with the QuickTime player and with Java 2.0, which is available on most browsers.

"TeraCAST helps accelerate the deployment of Internet broadcasting forboth consumers and content providers," said Steve West, president and CEO ofEntera. "TeraCAST was developed to meet the need we saw in the marketplace fora standards-based, customizable, multi-OS platform streaming server thatallows users to serve unlimited streams. TeraCAST not only meets those needs,it exceeds them, and at a very affordable price."

TeraCAST is available for OS platforms including Window 98, Windows NT, SunSolaris, Sun SPARC, FreeBSD, and Linux.

"With the introduction of its multi-OS, standards-based TeraCAST PlusStreaming Server, Entera has delivered a powerful new tool in the campaign toimprove the overall Internet experience," said George Grubb, CEO ofPlayStream.

TeraCAST Lite is a free pared-down version of the server. A beta version is currently available for download. TeraCAST Plus is the full-blown commercial product with more features and unlimited streaming capabilities. TeraCAST Plus will be available on February 21 for $1,495 per server CPU.
