Digital Island and NaviSite Partner in Streaming Agreement

Digital Island (www.digitalisland.com) announced that it will stream content for NaviSite ( www.navisite.com) as part of NaviSite's recently announced streamOS streaming services initiative. Digital Island's Footprint streaming services will be used along with the streamOS platform.

The companies previously partnered to stream Madonna's November 28 performance form London, which drew a reported nine million viewers. More than 3.6 terabytes of data were transferred through Footprint and streamOS, along with other distribution partners, using nearly 2.7 gigabytes of bandwidth, making the event one of the largest of its kind.

"We are always excited to expand the reach of our e-Business Delivery Network by partnering with innovative companies like NaviSite," said Tim Wilson, chief marketing officer of Digital Island. "The combination of our services and basic infrastructure delivers an unbeatable value for NaviSite customers who select the Digital Island network."

Joint customers can use the streamOS interface to track the performance metrics and audience participation of their streams, while maintaining a single point of billing, monitoring, reporting and content and delivery management through NaviSite.

"StreamOS makes it easy and cost-effective for our customers to take advantage of streaming to deliver a rich customer experience on the Web," said Jay Seaton, vice president of marketing of NaviSite. "Digital Island is a leader in streaming infrastructure, and utilizing their network allows us to increase the benefits of streamOS for our customers."
