AudioCast.net Using Akamai Content Delivery Service

AudioCast.net (http://www.audiocast.net), a streaming media company, announced an alliance agreement with Akamai ( http://www.akamai.com) to use Akamai's FreeFlow Streaming content delivery service.

AudioCast.net says using FreeFlow will enhance its streamingsolutions, including those of live events.

Akamai's FreeFlow service delivers streams from Akamai'sdistributed network of servers around the globe, located close to Internet endusers, which they say improves site performance and user satisfaction.

"It's no longer about bandwidth -- it's about bottleneck," said MarjieMacLean, founder and president of AudioCast.net. "It doesn't matter how muchbandwidth we connect to our servers. Network congestion is often a directresult of the legacy of the public and private peering arrangements upon whichthe Internet is built -- and it has caused unacceptably poor listeningexperiences. We needed an intelligent and distributed network for deliveringcontent; both of which Akamai is providing in an elegant and robust solution.Effective partnerships allow us to focus on our core business of advancedaudio enhancements."
