ABCNEWS.com Launches New Internet Only Show,

ABCNEWS.com (http://www.abcnews.com) launched "On Background," an Internet-only streaming video program focusing on politics featuring Chief Washington Correspondent Ann Compton.

The program will be available daily Monday through Friday, and is available beginning at 11:30 a.m., ET each day. All shows will be archived for on-demand access, as well.

"As we approach this year's presidential election and the political arena intensifies, ABCNEWS.com will offer programs such as `On Background' for comprehensive insight and analysis of all political races and issues," said Bernard Gershon, vice president and general manager, ABCNEWS.com. "We are pleased that in addition to her daily reporting, Ann Compton will bring her expertise and years of experience to our users in a multimedia platform."

ABCNEWS.com's election coverage will also include: daily briefings; video and audio political commercials; real-time vote data; a weekly "Politics Challenge" quiz; SamDonaldson@ABCNEWS.com, a live, thrice-weekly, Internet-only program; the weekly "Here's The Point" audio program hosted by ABC News Political Director Mark Halperin; searchable video; interactive debate coverage; and more.

This is ABCNews.com's second foray into the Internet-only programming. Its first show, SamDonaldson@ABCNEWS.com was launched in September 1999.
